Sedation

Anxiety and fear often stand in the way of optimal oral health. Our office offers sedation to help facilitate your access to dental treatment.

Oral Conscious Sedation
To relieve the very real and often debilitating anxiety associated with dental phobia, we offer oral conscious sedation. This is known as sedation dentistry and can benefit:
- Patients who feel stressed about dental work.
- Patients who need multiple procedures performed in one visit.

The procedure involves taking an oral sedative and receiving nitrous oxide (laughing gas). You will be closely monitored throughout your visit to ensure your comfort and safety.

Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous oxide is used in surgery and dentistry for its pain blocking and reducing effects. It is commonly known as "laughing gas" due to the euphoric effects of inhaling it. The administration of nitrous oxide is used for patients of all ages to enhance patient comfort and relieve anxiety. The gas (a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen) is inhaled through a face mask. The amount of gas received is carefully monitored and controlled by our dentists to ensure your safety.
The effects of nitrous oxide are gone once the mask is removed. If the gas is the only anesthesia that you receive, you will very likely be capable of driving yourself home following the visit and can continue your daily activities as normal.

Dr Paul Toor offers oral sedation and the use of nitrous oxide to aid in dental treatment.
